This project, The It Shelf, is a portable, foldable shelving system designed to simplify the moving process by reducing packing time, cost, and waste. Motivated by research showing that millions of Americans spend an average of 37 hours packing and generate significant waste during moves, our team developed a customizable and collapsible storage solution that functions as both a shelf and a transport unit. Through iterative prototyping, material testing, and market analysis, we created a durable yet lightweight design that minimizes the need for boxes and packing materials while remaining cost-efficient for consumers. My role was designing the shelf structure and developing the mechanical components, using CAD software to model parts and ensure proper fit and functionality. I also contributed to refining the assembly process and improving the efficiency and reliability of the moving mechanisms. By integrating engineering principles such as structural strength and material behavior, the final product offers a practical, reusable alternative to traditional moving methods, making relocation more efficient and environmentally sustainable.
My Club, Gold Rush Robotics, at UNCC competed in IEEE SoutheastCon 2026 Hardware Competition. The Competition required teams to design an autonomous robot and optional UAV to complete space-themed tasks like rescuing AstroDucks, restoring antennas, and communicating data within a timed match. Teams earn points by efficiently completing these tasks on a structured playing field, emphasizing engineering design, autonomy, and problem-solving under competition constraints. My role in this event was the head and only member of the mechanical engineering team, I CADed most of the robot and oversaw the design and manufacturing of all parts. I also taught new members CAD and manufacturing techniques as the main purpose of our club is to teach.
